Returns, complaints and warranty

Returns / Conditions

Are you not completely satisfied? Returns are (almost) always allowed. SelectedBy uses a 14-day inspection period after receipt to return your products. This applies to (almost) all products*. If the items delivered by SelectedBy are not returned on time, the items are considered accepted by the customer.

The costs for returns are at your expense. For the exact rates, consult the website of the carrier. Tip: keep your received Track & Trace number until we have received the return shipment.

We will only accept returned items that:

  • have been registered;
  • are returned in the original undamaged packaging;
  • are undamaged and unused;
  • contain a return slip;
  • include any gifts sent along.

If any of the above points are not followed, an administration fee of €5 will be deducted and/or a discount will be applied and/or the return will not be accepted.

If the items are unused and undamaged and have been returned on time and correctly, SelectedBy will pay the amount within 14 working days* after receipt of the returned items.

If part of your order has been paid for with a gift voucher or discount code from SelectedBy, you will receive a discount code from SelectedBy for an amount equal to the term or duration of the gift voucher or discount code in question.

* For used and/or vintage items it is not always possible to return products. This is then stated separately.

* Any costs for shipping, our gift service and express deliveries will not be refunded.

Fragile items, damage and insurance

We pack your fragile items very carefully and with much love. But the moment we hand your order over to the carrier, we can no longer guarantee it.

That is why we advise you to always insure fragile items for damage for a small additional fee. But that is of course always your own choice . The costs for insured shipping depend on the carrier you choose and you will see this at checkout.

If you have insured your order and there is damage, please report this to us as soon as possible via the contact form. We also ask you to send us the following photos.

  • The outer packaging in its entirety with the address and barcode visible.
  • A close-up of the addressing and barcode.
  • A close-up of the damage to the outer packaging.
  • One or more photos clearly showing the inner packaging.
  • One or more photos of the damaged item in its entirety.
  • One or more detailed photos of the damage to the item.

If you have not insured your order, unfortunately we cannot do anything with it.

Complaints? Let's (try to) solve it

It can always happen that something does not go as planned or expected. In our general terms and conditions you can read how we deal with your complaints. It is customary that you first make your complaints known to us via the contact form. We will then do everything we can to fix them, because SelectedBy likes satisfied customers

As of 15 February 2016, consumers in the EU can also file complaints via the European Commission's ODR platform. If your complaint is not yet being processed elsewhere, you are free to file your complaint via the European Union platform.

Warranty? We've thought about that too

You buy vintage items, so you understand that the reasonable expected lifespan is lower than that of new items. Think of a vintage lamp, for example, the factory warranty has often expired. The same applies to a vintage candlestick or bowl, for example. It will certainly be beautiful (and the condition is described as well as possible), but it is not in absolute new condition.

But rest assured, we also take our responsibility with vintage items and therefore set a warranty period of 14 days. Use or test your vintage items immediately, then you are in time if something is wrong with them.

Of course, new items also have a guarantee, namely the legal guarantee. If you have received a damaged item or if the item breaks after a short time, SelectedBy will provide a suitable solution.
